Month in Review: December 2008

December was a spectacular month in which we broke 2000 hits, having just broken 1000 the month before. We continued our visual revamping of the blog and added a few more nifty widgets; we had a few different holiday features; Alex finally, finally watched Star Wars; and though it was not publicized, I finally, finally began reading The Goon.

Here's what you might have missed if you were too wrapped up in the holiday festivities to keep up with our relentless posting (it's okay; we forgive you):

- News about two feature-length fan films: the upcoming Mega Man and the star-(trek) studded Star Trek: Of Gods and Men

- A series of holiday shopping guides called Gifts for Geeks, covering anime, comics for diehard fans, comics for the rest of us, random gift ideas, and absurdly rare and expensive gifts to drool over

- Alex's review of Star Wars, following his first-ever viewing of the film

- An introduction to Panda-Z, a fun, cute anime series

- A list of online video game resources for a variety of video game needs

- An introduction to The Onion, a satirical news publication

- Alex's entertaining tale of pity and woe concerning his attempts to break into the comics industry, Parts One, Two, Three, Four, and Five

- A reflection on the death of Star Trek's Majel Barrett-Roddenberry

- A celebration of our blog reaching 2000 hits

- Our blog-centric spoof of "The Night Before Christmas"

- Our stories of The Greatest (Christmas) Gift Ever

- An introduction to 8-Bit Jesus, Christmas songs remixed in the style of classic NES games

- A review of The Very Best of Aerosmith: Devil's Got a New Disguise, an Aerosmith compilation CD

- An introduction to the cute and hilarious cats of I Can Has Cheezburger?

- A sorry excuse for a post to cover for us when we were on a road trip to buy comics

- Two reviews in one post: one of Batman-less Batman comic Gotham Central, and one of comedian Artie Lange's autobiography, Too Fat to Fish

- Our Year in Review, covering our absolute favorite posts of 2008
